Located in Orick, CA amongst the majestic redwoods and beautiful coastline, Lewis Kemper and Deborah Sandidge will be conducting a 5 day workshop focusing on being creative with your digital imagery. The class will mostly be shooting and critiquing with presentations on “Getting the Most Out of Digital” “Digi- tal Infrared” and “A Creative Approach to Digital Photography.” Topics discussed will include HDR, digital infrared, getting creative with filters and plug-ins, specialty lenses, increasing and decreasing depth of field digitally, and getting the most out of your raw file.

The home base for the workshop is the lovely Elk Meadow Cabins in Redwood National Park. We will be photographing within the National Park, and along the majestic coast, and as a bonus we are there during the elk rut and the elk will be all around the cabin area! There will be morning and evening photography sessions with mid-day time spent on skill building presentations, demos and critiques. Our concentration will be on increasing your creativity whether it be trying something new like digital infrared (we will have a few loaner cameras available), or thinking about combining images to create greater depth of field when doing wildlife (elk), capturing the grandeur of the redwood trees in HDR, obtaining a custom white balance, working with specialty filters such as Topaz Adjust, Nik Software or Lucis Art. We encourage you to bring a laptop to process your images and we will be reviewing students work on a daily bases. The Group size will be limited to 12 students so there will be plenty of one-on-one time for everybody. From in field demos, to post processing techniques and critiques, you'll have a comprehensive and fun week of photographic instruction!
